SIWAS 2017 03/March Challenge Mariah Carey-Emotions

I may not be in the favor with these young ladies, especially my daughter in the center, after posting this for the world to see.  However, their graduation activities pic captures the SIWAS song "Emotions" challenge perfectly and I just had to go with it...  I had asked them what are they going to do now that you all have graduated and the picture is the result!  The layout was completed at a group crop and I snagged a couple of leaf cutouts from another project they had going on and coupled the floral cutouts to add to the tapestry feel of the overall design.  The base is a flocked texture and I ran color appropriate inks across the top to make it all flow together.  Since graduation, these young ladies no longer have a 'now what' outlook, but are facing life head on and taking names!!

SIWAS 2017 02/February Challenge Justin Timberlake-Can't Stop the Feeling

Can't Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake was the SIWAS song challenge for February and even though this picture of my grandson is an older one, I chose to use it because he absolutely loves to dance to the song when we watch Trolls.  I wanted some geometric elements inspired by the grid background and continued with the circle punch out blue with white mini polka dot outline with the arrow paper pointing to the picture focal point.  We have referred to this guy as our little man and I like the bow tie elements that I added.  The pale blue tags that make up the left column are actually muffler information index cards that came with a file cabinet I purchased.  I tend to use those as price tags for my antiques, and vintage painted furniture but wanted to incorporate them on a scrapbook page.  Many precuts came from a pack from Close to My Heart.

SIWAS 2017 01/January Challenge Chris Tomlin-Good Good Father

The beginning of the year found me busy and this layout was a simple design, using the scallop edges punch die on a re-purposed folder with a clear polka dot overlay.  The inspiration was the 'family' die which I embossed in gold.  The picture is an older one and we missed having our middle kid in the pic because he had to work.  The SIWAS song was selected by my good friend who loves the song, Good, Good Father by Chris Tomlin.  I think of how our heavenly father is and I see my husband being that example to our children.  What a blessing to be with a man who loves God and sets an example of patience, love and integrity for his family.  Oh, and he lets me occupy much space with my many hobbies ;~)  Below is an close up view of the details...

SIWAS 2016 12/December Challenge Jonas Blue ft. Dakota-Fast Car

THIS! This is my favorite of this years' layouts.  We were having a garage sale and my mom wanted to get rid of the light up snowman.  Grandson was quite taken with the holiday decor!  I used Tim Holtz snowman die cut and stamp set (love these!) and the cool 'flocked' tree was accomplished with a technique (medium, ink, embossing) my scrapbooking friends showed me on one of our group weekends.   I am usually not a fan of scrapbooking the 'season' but I enJOYed this one for sure!

SIWAS 2016 11/November Challenge Ellie Goulding-I Need Your

This layout was inspired by the moment our oldest two grandsons got their "Pawbo" to sit down and read them a Dr. Suess story.  The SIWAS song by Ellie Goulding, I Need Your (fill in the blank in this case) ... time ... love ... attention!  We were gathering up as a family to go out to eat a meal and this happened organically, love those moments.  The 'boys' tag is actually a classroom clearance item as is the polka dot background, a re-purposed folder.  I added layers of textured blue paper as well as pulled thread edges of a burlap piece.  I really like how this one turned out with the toned picture!

SIWAS 2016 10/October Challenge Rihanna-Mad House

Little grumpy pants...  I love my grandson's face in this picture.  His dad is holding his hands down after putting on the shades to protect his eyes and I think it's VERY obvious the little guy isn't too pleased in this confining position.  Our song that we were to scrap a layout to this month was Mad House by Rihanna.  I went off the word 'mad' in the title and did a word play on my grandson's name.  I worked on this project during a scrapping get away on the lakeside with friends.  I find that being in their company with all the creativity flowing is inspirational.  I used gesso to make the white arrow with a stencil and like the process of adding a different texture to this design.
